The 4th USA Science & Engineering Festival was held April 16-17, 2016 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Well over 700 people visited the Georgetown University had a booth covering Biology, Physics and Chemistry, including making ice cream using liquid nitrogen!

The Institute for Soft Matter was represented by Profs. Emanuela Del Gado, Peter Olmsted, and Jeff Urbach, as well as post-doctoral researchers Claudia Dessi and John Royer. Budding young scientists learned about granular matter, silly putty, and oobleck, with a recurring theme of materials that can be liquid-like and solid-like at the same time. Everyone got a chance to get their hands very messy and have fun!
