Two undergraduateĀ students working with Professor Van Keuren were selected to give poster presentations at a major conference recently. Allie Stevens, a junior, presentedĀ her work “Synthesis and Characterization of Water-Encapsulated Polymer Nanocapsules Formed by Flash Nanoprecipitation” and Leah Chen, a senior, presented “Optimizing Isothermal Titration Calorimetry for the Novel Characterization of a Hydrogen Peroxide Sensitive Nanoparticle”. Both poster presentations were given at the annual meeting of the mid-Atlantic Section of the American Physical Society, which works to advance and diffuse knowledge of physics across different universities and states around D.C.. The meeting took place 11/15-11/17 at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

Additionally, Professor Van Keuren recently received a new 3-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for $446,239 for a project entitled “Investigations of drug encapsulation in polymer nanoparticles: Training undergraduate students in multidisciplinary research.” This grant will help Professor Van Keuren and his students continue to pursue interesting research and engage with the physics community.
